Description

This resistor is made with lime wood and raw unbleached cotton, bonded using my natural resin-based glue. The leads are 0.5mm gold-plated copper.

The sound is very natural and dynamic, with little to no colouration. Although I do feel it offers audibly better sound than any other "audiophile" resistor (particularly where dynamics are concerned), it can't quite match the presence and depth of the Invisistor. It is a lot easier to make than the Invisistor though, and as a result, it costs a lot less!

Every resistor is made to order. Studio Zy philosophy is to create things that are natural, beautiful and made by human hands, not machines - and as such, individual and unique.

Ordering

Values available at the moment are anything between 0R and 1K. Power rating of 0.125W should be assumed. If you are interested in higher value or power rating - please do get in touch, I will likely be able to help you.

The price is 13.50, including international postage. The default tolerance is 1% +1R, tighter matching is possible at extra cost. Values above 1K are available, but result in a (physically) big resistor, and so are custom-made to order (send a request).

Resistance (0-1K Ohm):

Evaluation samples are available - please ask for details. If you have any specific requirements, please email me and I will see if I can accommodate them - you will normally get a reply the same day.

Precautions

Zy Standard resistor is entirely hand-made, and it cannot possibly be made as consistently as mass-produced parts. Therefore, it needs some extra precautions:

Power and voltage rating
Zy Standard resistor is meant for low-current signal-level applications. Although it will continue to work even at temperatures exceeding 150 deg. Celsius, it may start to smoke, or even catch fire. Remember, it's made with wood and cotton, and it is certainly NOT self-extinguishing.

Operating environment
Extremely high or low humidity environments should be avoided as they can cause the wooden parts to warp and result in resistor failure. Another reason to avoid high humidity is that non-metallic parts may eventually develop mildew, or start to decay - they are natural materials after all.

Soldering temperature
The resistor is made of natural materials which will not tolerate prolonged overheating. It is advised to keep soldering times below 5 seconds at 250 deg. Celsius, and allow the component to cool down fully between successive applications of heat.

From the designer

"My Invisistor were getting universal praise, but that was usually accompanied by requests for something a bit more affordable... So I simplified its design, to make it quicker to build, and replaced the exquisite materials with cheaper, but still natural, materials. The end result is surprisingly good."

Warranty & Disclaimer

All resistors come with a lifetime warranty against manufacturing faults and defects. Their sound quality is also guaranteed - full refund will be given if you are not impressed with them.

Not covered under warranty are natural variations in materials and minor manufacturing inaccuracies typical of hand-made items.

My components are under constant development, so description and pictures may not reflect the current development stage.

Disclaimer: no claims will be accepted for any damage or loss, direct or implied, that arose due to the use of these resistors, either in electric devices or elsewhere. Don't even think of installing them in military or medical machines.
Read the Precautions paragraph and above all - use common sense.
