Imagine a resistor
that passes on the full dynamic range of the signal, while being
completely transparent itself. Completely "invisible". That's
The Invisistor is made with ebony wood, natural silk, my own wood resin compound, 4N silver leads and other exquisite components. The leads and the resistive element are bonded into the wood in a high-pressure process, somewhat akin to inlaying, but three-dimensional. It is extremely time-consuming to make (it takes three to five days), which is one of the reasons why the price is so steep. All of its components are of the highest grade available and, except for metal parts, 100% natural.
I do not really
know where to begin describing its sound. The first quality
you will notice is how invisible it is. Even the famous
"nude" Vishay sounds obviously coloured in comparison.
Every Invisistor is
made to order. Studio Zèy philosophy is to create things that are
natural, beautiful and made by human hands, not machines - and as
such, individual and unique.
Values available at the moment are anything between 0R and 10K. Power rating of 0.125W should be assumed. If you are interested in higher value or power rating - please do get in touch, I will likely be able to help you.
The price depends on the value. Values up to 100R all cost £40. Above that, add £1 per every full 100R. Price is for a resistor with 1% + 2R tolerance - tighter matching is possible at extra cost. Values above 1K are available, but result in a (physically) big resistor, and so are custom-made to order (send a request).
are available - please
for details. If you have any specific requirements, please
and I will see if I can accommodate them - you will normally
get a reply the same day.
Invisistor is entirely hand-made, and it cannot possibly be made as consistently as mass-produced parts. Therefore, it needs some extra precautions:
"After developing my capacitors to the edge of what was affordable, I turned to resistors. The experience with natural materials I developed while researching capacitors was of tremendous help, and with some trial and error I managed to evolve a simple, basic, resistor concept into the most sophisticated form. Indeed, some discoveries I made while working with resistors might lead to better capacitors in turn, so watch this space ;)
"Special thanks go to DHTRob as his homemade resistor first inspired me to start experimenting with my own resistor ideas."
All Invisistors come with a lifetime warranty against manufacturing faults and defects. Their sound quality is also guaranteed - full refund will be given if you are not impressed with them.
Not covered under warranty are natural variations in materials and minor manufacturing inaccuracies typical of hand-made items.
My components are under constant development, so description and pictures may not reflect the current development stage.
Disclaimer: no claims will be accepted for any damage or loss, direct
or implied, that arose due to the use of these resistors, either in
electric devices or elsewhere. Don't even think of installing them
in military or medical machines.
